What Men and Women Should Wear on First Dates

Men and women certainly want to make the best first impression during first dates. While everybody wants to be loved because of their personality and other good qualities, it is a fact that appearances matter when it comes to meeting people for the first time. Good clothes may not have any effect on the date’s outcome, but bad fashion choices will surely make an impact—and a negative one at that! It is therefore necessary for men and women to know what to wear for such an occasion.
For men and women, there are general rules in dressing up for a first date. Style experts agree that during first dates, people should wear clothes that make them feel good and give them confidence. This means that women shouldn’t wear anything that is too tight or something that needs to be constantly adjusted. For men, first dates aren’t the time to try something they’ve never worn before, as discomfort with the new piece of wardrobe will surely show. Instead, they should keep it classic and simple. Wearing something uncomfortable will prevent men and women from thoroughly enjoying the night with their respective dates.
While men and women should feel good in their first date apparel, it doesn’t mean they should wear clothes that are too comfortable—obviously, sweatpants and PJs are out of the picture. One should never look sloppy on a first date. For guys who want to be neither too dressed up nor too casual, a business casual outfit is foolproof. To those who are used to wearing jeans, why not take it up a notch with a pair of slacks? Go fancy by pairing it with a turtleneck sweater or tucked-in shirt. Women know they can never go wrong with a little black dress; if they want a splash of color, they could choose a cocktail dress in a flattering hue. It is also a must to wear something that highlights one’s best feature. How will your date know you have great legs or a slim waist if you don’t accentuate them?
If all else fails, daters can just do some research. They can call the venue ahead of time and inquire about what the people who frequent the establishment wears. With these dating advice in mind, men and women will find that dressing for first time dating is a breeze.
